If anyone has photographs of any of the following ASA soldiers memorialized on this page..please send me a copy. I would like to see a face on every one of these names. I would like it to be clear to visitors that these were living breathing human beings..and not just statistics, or names on a wall.

I guess at 72 things can get "foggy", but I gotta comment on this to some one.

When I went to 'Nam in Sept. '66, I learned that I was "excess", so they wanted me to stay at Long Binh at the 303rd Bn. I was only there a short while when I first learned of Capt. Stallings death (Sept '66). Now here's the "zinger":

I'm quite certain that in that same general time frame there was talk in the Bn Ops tent that a Sgt Peters (or Peterson) had also been killed by a road-side claymore mine. I was later assigned to Cu Chi with the 354th (?? memory} R/R co., and still later volunteered to replace SFC Stirling who was killed during a March '67 mortar attack on the 9th Division's Mekong Riverine base at Dong Tam.

The incident was out of mind until I visited the Ft. Belvoir ASA Memorial with CSM Bontley several years ago. It struck me that "Peter's" (??) name was not listed.

I MUST be mistaken, yet (though I have poor recall of names) I DO still remember the name and the conversation. I only recall CSM Bowen as the Ops NCOIC and, of course, Colonel Masters, the 303rd Bn CO. Maybe someone out there can expand on it - or at least relieve me of this nagging (probably erroneous) incident.
